Projects at Stanford University

Over the last three decades, Ennead Architects (formerly Polshek Partnership Architects) has completed 10 buildings for Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Designing for the central area of Stanford's historic campus requires not only innovative architectural thinking but also creative responses to the restrictions put in place to ensure a harmony between new and old. Many of Ennead's projects had to have sloped roofs finished with the traditional clay tile. A considered pallet of materials, elegant proportioning systems, and thoughtful detailing help achieve contemporary spatial aspirations without breaking historic legacies. Projects located outside the core enjoy more freedom and as a result are designed with languages fitting their identity and context (Anderson, Denning House, Bing Concert Hall are prime examples.)

This collection recounts several visits to the campus and showcases the following projects:

1. Anderson Collection (2014)

2. Stanford Law School, William H Neukom Building (2011)

3. Stanford CheM-H and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute (2019)

4. Stanford Bass Biology Building (2019)

5. Denning House (2019)
